After several high-profile incidents of police violence toward Black Akronites last year, the February 10 story that follows was about an upcoming policing forum led Black law enforcement officers from around Northeast Ohio. It was convened by Akron Police Department’s chaplain, who also serves as a local pastor.

In the days after President Trump took office, I reported on the impact of an executive order banning refugee entry to the US on the refugees who were due to arrive in Akron within weeks. It was published on January 29.
